We finally had a decent Saturday to play golf! The weather was ideal and the course was in pretty good shape. A field of 16 teams competed at Cedar Creak on Saturday. The guys did a pretty good job today despite a few setbacks. We ended up with a 347 which still isn't good enough if we want to advance in sectional but we are showing signs of getting over the hump. We finished in 7th place pretty much right in the middle of the pack.
Taylor had a great round, firing a 78. Nice to see him bounce back from his mini-slump. Tegan fired a 40 on this first 9 and then followed it with a 45. 85 isn't bad at all. Tegan's highlight came on 8 (his 17th hole) when he banked it off 3 trees trying to chip out--the ball ended up rolling about 2 feet from the hole and he made bid. Neumeyer struggled on his second 9 as well on his way to an 89. 41 on the first 9 was very solid. Poor Justin. The kid showed a gritty performance as he was not feeling well but still managed to make it around the course. I know he isn't satisfied with his score but I'm still proud of him for gutting it out. This was Matthew McNeal's first invitational. He hit the ball very well but 46 putts caused his score to inflate. I just have a feeling that one of these days Matthew is going to figure out the whole putting thing, and his game will significantly improve overnight.
We'll be back in action on Tuesday evening! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Matt
