After our second week of the season, we now realize we have a ways to go if we are going to advance in Sectionals. Our matches on Tuesday and Thursday produced solid scores but both ended in losses.
First on Tuesday was at Heritage. We had a 161 but lost by 4 strokes. Keegan led us with a 37 and Logan and Matthew were also in the 30's. 161 isn't bad, especially on a course we weren't too familiar with, but we've got to get into the 150's...
On Thursday we were at home against the mighty Tigers of Warsaw. They shot a 148, slightly better than our 162. Again, solid, but we have to go lower. Tegan was the low man with a 39.
Yesterday we had the Concordia Invitational at Foster Park and it was a day to foget, quickly. 3 of our 5 guys shot in the 90s and even Tegan's 82 was a bit disappointing after getting off to a great start. Our bad rounds need to be in the 80's and we need to get at least a couple guys in the 70s to have a chance.
We have only one match this week against Lakewood Park and we'll be without our Seniors and Keegan. It will be a great chance for some other guys to get a chance to step up.
Our Player of the Week honors this week go to Tegan Wild. Tegan has gotten off to a slow start but is beginning to pick it up. He was our low-man both on Thursday and Saturday and now only trails Keegan by .7 for lowest average.
