For the second time this week we got "one'd"... That is my new term for getting beaten by one. Today was even a little more painful than Tuesday's match vs. Northrop. We had an 8 stroke lead going into the back nine which at Brookwood is at least a couple strokes easier than the front. We gave away too many strokes, however, and ended up letting Dekalb come back to beat us by a stroke. Don't get me wrong, 2nd place isn't bad but I really thought we had this one...
Front 9: 169
Back 9: 166
Team Total for 18: 338
Oh well, live and learn. There is plenty to be happy about. Russell fired a 77 which was good enough to be medalist. Very impressive. Taylor shot an 80. That earned him 3rd place over all. Glick had a solid back nine to post an 88. Tegan seems on the verge of putting it all together. He ended up with 93. Neumeyer also had 93, and played much better on the back nine.
We need to work more on our short game. I think the guys could all tell you at least 4 strokes they gave away around the greens. Knock those off our score and we are around 320. That would be good enough come sectional time to advance. So, we know what we need to do. Let's go out and get it done. We are right where we need to be at this point early in the season. If we put the work in and continue to improve, it's going to be a fun Spring!
